Widowmaker to Warrior
Surviving a widowmaker heart attack was the beginning, not the end.
I survived a massive heart attack despite believing I was doing everything right. That experience forced me to rethink conventional advice about health, nutrition, recovery, and aging.Rather than accepting a standard roadmap, I began questioning assumptions, experimenting, and rebuilding on my own terms.Today, I train, compete in fitness events, and continue pushing the boundaries of what recovery can look like in my 60s.
Widowmaker to Warrior is the story of what happened after I survived—a journey through recovery, research, self-experimentation, and the pursuit of lasting health.

Guy Boyd, author of Widowmaker to Warrior
Nearly ten years later, I'm still exploring the science of metabolic health and testing what recovery can look like beyond conventional expectations. But it all began with a 100% blockage of the artery known as the Widowmaker.
The Artery That Nearly Killed Me
This is the artery that caused my heart attack: a 100% blockage of the left anterior descending (LAD) artery, often called the Widowmaker.

The LAD artery is completely blocked. Blood flow stops abruptly.

Blood flow is restored after emergency stenting.
